Department of Commerce was set up in the year 2020. The department was established with the vision of catering to the need for commerce education at the tertiary level to tap the intrinsic potential of aspiring youths of the region. The department seeks to make the students courageous enough to appreciate creativity, inclusiveness, innovation, integrity, and quality as well as hardworking enough to acquire these traits, be skillful, employable, and adapt to contemporary challenges. At present, there are 4 faculty members. The department has contributed substantially to the dissemination of knowledge in the various subjects under its domain, as prescribed by Gauhati University through various course curriculums. At present, under the CBCS system the subjects namely Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Income Tax Law & Practices, e-filing of returns, Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Indirect Tax Laws, Advanced Corporate Accounting, Business Research methods & Project work, etc. are being taught. The department imparts teaching in both traditional and digital modes in smart classrooms. The practical classes on Tally ERP, e-filing of returns, etc. are imparted through application software in digital mode. The department also organizes workshops, seminars, lectures & other programming, for the overall development of the students, from time to time.
